Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow

Scope of work:

Design and supply of Automatic Water Mist Fire Suppression System "EI-MIST®" produced by "Eusebi Impianti" (Italy) for protection of the book depository premises of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The total area of the protected premises is 1 434 m2.

Project Features:

Research library of Bauman Moscow State Technical University – is one of the oldest university libraries in Russia. It was founded concurrently with the institution in 1830. The library fund has more than 2.7 million items of educational and scientific literature in various fields of science and technology, regulatory, technical publications and periodicals.

The book depository premises are subject to protection, they are located on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. The main fire load is the books.

The premises group according to the degree of the fire risk, depending on the functional purpose of the premises - is the 1st as per Appendix No. 1 Fire Safety Regulation NPB 88-2001*.

Solution:

Automatic sprinkler water mist fire suppression system "EI-MIST®" with pre-activation system (the unit start occurs only in the availability of the confirmation signal from the fire alarm system) was accepted to protect the book depository premises.

Automatic fire suppression system consists of 4 sections: 1st section for protection of the book depository premises on the 1st floor, 2nd section - on the 2nd floor and the 3rd section - on the 3rd floor. Also a deluge curtain is foreseen on a separate pipeline to protect the open stairs and elevator for lifting the books. Fire suppression station where the modules are located is on the ground floor.

The system structure:

  • EI-MIST modular unit (15 modules per 80 l with distilled water and 8 modules with nitrogen);
  • Distributing gears of stainless steel AISI 316 with manual and electric drive for supply of water to the nozzles in different zones;
  • Sprinkler sprayers of high pressure, К=1.2;
  • Compressor to maintain air pressure in standby mode;
  • Pipelines and special connecting devices made of stainless steel of grade INOX 316.
