Foam Generating Agent in Fire Suppression

In order to ensure fire protection several methods of fire suppression are used: gas, foam, water, etc. Enterprises, organizations mainly use the automatic fire suppression systems.

Gas fire suppression is based on supplying of a fire suppressing agent into the premises where the fire occurred. Gas flows from the cylinders to the spray nozzles located under the ceiling. It fills all pipes, holes and does not allow the flame to spread by suppressing it.

Foam fire suppression is based on the usage of the foam generators that effectively cope with any fire source and flame. This is achieved due to the fact that in a short time the fire is isolated from the supply of oxygen because the combustion is not possible without it. The foam generating agent used emits foam and covers the fuel surface therewith, resulting in termination of inflammation. The water contained in the foam generator cools the fuel down to a temperature at which combustion is not possible. The foam cover protects against the harmful flammable vapors.

Foam generators are widely used in oil and chemical industry and are the effective equipment. In addition to the generators, foam fire suppression units include: dosing tanks, concentrate control units, fire hose nozzles, foam chambers, foam supply systems, monitors.

All equipment should be controlled for the presence of defects and deviations to prevent system malfunctions in the operation of fire suppression system. Control is performed by the companies having licenses for this activity. Only professionals can select the appropriate equipment necessary for fire suppression and specified in the Technical Specifications.
