In 2018, our company passed the registration procedure of the electrical laboratory (ETL) in Rostekhnadzor (Federal service for environmental, technological and nuclear supervision) .

Now we have all the necessary permits, as well as highly qualified specialists in this field, and we are pleased to offer new services:

Electrical laboratory – what is it?

The electrical laboratory is a special laboratory facility, which was designed for measurements in electric networks, or in machinery and equipment.

There are stationary and mobile electrical laboratories.

In addition, these facilities are divided by type, depending on the measurements.

How it works?

Each laboratory is equipped with the necessary measuring instruments and safety equipment. Measurements are usually carried out by three specialists. The purpose of any measurement is to determine the condition of the equipment that is connected to the power grid. With the help of such laboratories measure the current level in the mechanisms and networks, resistance, voltage.

The obtained parameters are compared with the norms specified in the standards. Measurements require high accuracy and qualification of workers, laboratory serviceability, as their correctness depends on the normal operation of the electrical network and the safety of personnel. If you do not notice, for example, a defect in the insulation of the wire, you can allow a fire in the network.

Types of electrical laboratory tests

Tests can identify network reliability, availability and serviceability of the insulation, the continuity of the wiring, and find all the flaws in her timely elimination.

  • The list of measurements of the laboratory includes:
  • Measurement of the earth's resistivity.
  • Check the reliability of lightning protection.
  • Check the cable route for integrity.
  • Check of serviceability of all equipment elements for grounding.
  • Check the circuit that connects the grounding conductor and the wire.
  • Check the resistance of the transition.
  • Checking the normal operation of the RCD and the input machine.
  • Measurement of the resistance in the loop "phase-zero".
  • Measurement of the resistance of the engine.
  • Check the stability of power lines under high voltage.

Since the measurements must be carried out with high accuracy, even the slightest error can lead to serious consequences.

Each ETL must have a quality certificate that makes its use legal.

The process of measurement and research should be confirmed by regulations and documents. After the measurements, the results are recorded in special forms for reporting.

The issued documentation on the result of the measurements shall be submitted to the customer for verification. It will also be required when the facility is put into operation for inspection by the fire inspector, control and supervision service and occupational safety engineers.

All types of tests of electrical laboratories can be divided into three categories:

  • Periodic measurement.
    Include inspection of cable insulation and the tightness of wiring that are conducted with a certain periodicity.
  • Preventive measurements.
    This category of measurements involves checking the network voltage, resistance and current, frequency and oscillations.
  • Acceptance tests.
    This category includes checking the normal operation of the equipment engines, checking lightning protection systems and short circuit, as well as the elimination of detected defects and repair of the network.

Testing of low-voltage equipment is carried out by special laboratories that are part of the erection crew. Low-voltage equipment can include alarm systems, video surveillance, as well as many other automation systems.

Types of tests can also be divided by the frequency of their performing:

  • Frequent. These are the checks required by any equipment, regardless of the specifics of its operation. They include insulation, grounding, lightning protection..
  • Average. These are the checks held every few years, usually every 2-3 years. Automatic safety devices, phase-zero loop and backup equipment are checked.
  • Rare. These are the researches of the underground part of the grounding, as well as all remote protection systems. Such laboratory studies are carried out every 10 years.
